“X-Men” Spin-Off “New Mutants” Begins Filming

Filmmaker Josh Boone has revealed on social media today that filming has officially begun on “The New Mutants,” the upcoming “X-Men” spin-off feature at 20th Century Fox.

The cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik, Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton as Cannonball, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar, and Henry Zaga as Sunspot. Alice Braga is also in talks for the role of Dr. Cecilia Reyes.

The project has been described as a “full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe” though will aim for a PG-13 rating. Boone and Knate Lee co-wrote the script which is rumored to center on five teenage mutants held in a secret facility trying to get a handle on their dangerous powers.

Despite earlier reports, James McAvoy will not be appearing as Professor X. The movie is currently slated for an April 13th 2018 release.
