The first numbers are in and Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Apocalypse” earned $8.2 million at Thursday previews domestically last night, almost an exact match to the $8.1 million that “X-Men: Days of Future Past” grossed its first evening two years ago.
“X-Men: Days of Future Past” opened to $110.6 million for the four-day Memorial Day weekend in 2014, ‘Apocalypse’ isn’t expected to match that but how close it will come is what people are wondering about right now.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” has already earned more than $130 million overseas before it opened in North American cinemas yesterday. Its main rival, Disney’s “Alice Through the Looking Glass” brought in an estimated $1.5 million at Thursday previews.
