It has been a busy day on the TV casting front, starting with the news that Haley Joel Osment is set to guest star in the second season of the revived “The X-Files” on FOX. Osment, who will next be seen in Hulu’s “Future Man,” will reportedly feature heavily in a Skinner-centric episode in the new ten-episode run which kicks off in January.
Next up, Amazon and BBC Two’s adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s “Good Omens” has added key actors to several supporting roles. Anna Maxwell Martin will play the demon Beelzebub while Mireille Enos, Lourdes Faberas and Yusuf Gatewood will play three of the Horseman of the Apocalypse – War, Pollution and Famine respectively.
The fourth, Death, has not been cast yet with Gaiman saying: “We are hoping that Death will be played by Death.” the group join Michael Sheen and David Tennant play the respective lead characters of Arizaphale and Crowley in the six-part series which will air via Amazon Prime Video in more than 200 countries in 2019.
Next up, Diane Lane has signed on for a role in the upcoming Matthew Weiner Amazon series “The Romanoffs”. The new series will consist of eight hour-long episodes, each of which will tell a standalone story with no recurring plot elements or actors. Each follows people who believe they are descendants of the imperial Russian family.
Finally today, Starz has announced that Tom Sturridge, Caitlin FitzGerald and Paul Sparks will join Ella Purnell in their six-episode original series “Sweetbitter”. Sturridge plays a “recklessly beautiful bartender,” FitzGerald a graceful and authoritarian sommelier, and Sparks will be the restaurant’s general manager.
