“House of Cards” actress Robin Wright has finally given her first public interview about the upcoming sixth and final season of the series in the wake of Kevin Spacey’s departure from the show last year following allegations of sexual misconduct.
“Today” show reporter Savannah Guthrie asked Wright about Spacey’s departure, her working relationship with him, whether they were still in touch, and how the changeover impacted the show.
Diane Lane, Greg Kinnear and Cody Fern join the cast for the abbreviated eight-episode final season which is expected to kick off from the fifth season finale in which Spacey’s Frank Underwood had resigned as POTUS and Wright’s First Lady Claire stepped in to be leader of the free world.
The interview follows on from comments by another of Spacey’s co-stars in the past, Guy Pearce, about Spacey being too ‘handsy’ on the set of “L.A. Confidential”. Pearce has walked back those comments a bit, telling SMH: “I very much understand that it’s too sensitive a topic to be brushed off. I addressed and handled the situation when it took place, hence my regret at making it public now.”
“House of Cards” returns sometime this Fall.
