Wright Dumps Gaslight For Foxx

British Director Joe Wright (“Atonement,” “Pride and Prejudice”) has ditched his plans for a new film adaptation of Patrick Hamilton’s play “Gaslight”.

Wright tells The Guardian that “I tried to adapt Gaslight in a contemporary setting but couldn’t make it work…In retrospect, attempting to modernise it was fairly stupid – it’s called Gaslight, for Christ’s sake.”

Instead he’s planning an as-yet-untitled film about schizophrenia and homelessness to star with Jamie Foxx. Working Title are producing and shooting will begin shortly in Los Angeles.
