Paramount and Skydance have scheduled a June 9th 2017 release date for a sequel to the zombie apocalypse thriller “World War Z” which managed to earn a stunning $540 million worldwide. Brad Pitt will return to star in and produce the project
Director Juan Antonio Bayona (“The Impossible”) will take over from Marc Forster as director, while screenwriter Steven Knight (“Eastern Promises”) will pen the script for this entry.
This isn’t the only sequel getting a release date today though as Universal has also slotted in a March 25th 2016 release date for a follow-up to the 2002 indie romantic comedy “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”. Kirk Jones directs the new film which Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman will produce.
