Woody Harrelson is set to play former president Lyndon Baines Johnson in the Rob Reiner-directed feature “LBJ”.
Joey Hartstone penned the drama which chronicles the Southern politician’s rise and the political upheaval the VP faced when he was thrust into the presidency at the hands of an assassin’s bullet in November 1963.
With battles on both sides of the aisle, Johnson struggles to heal a nation and secure his legacy by passing the historic Civil Rights Act.
Filming is slated to begin in September in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Dallas and Washington.
The project is not to be confused with the recent HBO telemovie “All the Way” which saw “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston take on the role following his Tony-winning performance in a stage version of it.
