Producers Bill Kong, Liu Erdong and Ivy Ho are teaming for the biopic “Rise of the Legend” about kung fu master Wong Fei-hung.
The story chronicles the origins of the kung fu master and his emergence as a figure of righteousness and justice during the last years of the corrupt Qing Dynasty.

The actor playing the title role in this take is being kept under wraps. Joining him are Sammo Hung as Wong’s mentor, teen idol Jing Boran, and martial arts champion Zhang Jin.
Chow Hin Yeung helms from a script by Christine To, while Corey Yuen serves as action director.
Edko Films, Irresistible Delta and BDI Films Inc will produce the project which begins shooting tomorrow in China. The film will hit in the second half of 2014.
