WonderCon: Buck, Captain, Ronin, Heroes

There’s a lot of articles coming out of this weekend’s highly successful WonderCon in San Francisco, yet so little is actually of any note news wise. To try and cut through the hyperbole, here’s a quick breakdown of some new facts garnered:

Buck Rogers
Paul W.S. Anderson tells Collider he’s doing a lot of art and VFX work on the project but hasn’t done any test shooting despite reports.

Also “Iron Man” writers Markman Holloway are penning the script which will indeed be set in the 25th century but the pair haven’t begun penning the script. As a result Anderson’s “Three Musketeers” film will likely go into production first.

Captain America
Chris Evans said he was attracted to the character of Steve Rogers rather than the allure of playing Captain America – “Even if it was just a script about anybody, I would probably want to do it. So it wasn’t necessarily about the comic itself. “

Heroes (TV)
Ali Larter says “I think we’re coming back for ‘Heroes’ for another season. I think, but I’m not sure.” A decision is expected in the next few weeks in the lead-up to the May upfronts.

National Treasure 3
“Prince of Persia” and “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” scribes Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro will pen the script for a third “National Treasure” film which Jon Turteltaub will once again direct says Coming Soon. No further details available.

Now that he’s just finished “The Losers”, director Sylvain White tells Collider he’s going back to work on an adaptation of Frank Miller’s comic “Ronin” with finishing up a script he got “60-70% done” before going to work on ‘Losers’.

He’s also developing the King Arthur tale “Pendragon”. As for “The Losers”, White says there was only one but rather key deleted scene which will show up on the DVD/Blu-ray.
