Warner Bros. Pictures has moved up the release of the “Wonder Woman” sequel by over a month, from December 13th 2019 to November 1st 2019.
The move shifts it out of the way of J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode IX” which was moved from its May 2019 release to a December 20th 2019 opening. With “Thor: Ragnarok” performing so well opening in the same weekend this year, the film will have a pretty clear run with its only competition at present being the next James Bond film on November 8th.
Patty Jenkins is returning to direct the film from a script she’s co-writing with Dave Callaham and Geoff Johns. Producing credits remain in flux due to the severing of ties with RatPac Entertainment and the stepping back of the Snyders from the DC universe. Actress Gal Gadot though is officially locked in to return as Diana.
The first film took in $821 million at the global box office this year and was both a critical and audience success.
