Damien Chazelle’s Neil Armstrong biopic “First Man,” Ruben Fleischer’s Tom Hardy-led Spidey spin-off “Venom,” Patty Jenkins’ superhero sequel “Wonder Woman 2” and Jon Favreau’s photorealistic remake of “The Lion King” have announced that they will shoot portions of their films with IMAX cameras.
While this months “Avengers: Infinity War” marks the first movie to be shot entirely with IMAX, numerous superhero films and action films have short large chunks in IMAX and this trend looks like it will continue for some time.
The first “Wonder Woman” was released in IMAX 3D but wasn’t shot that way, with all these films marking the first time these three directors have shot in the giant screen format. “Lion King” will reportedly boast about thirty minutes worth of scenes in the format.
