Wolverine, Trek, Journey Sequel News

The Wolverine
Yep, “The Wolverine” has become the official title for the upcoming Darren Aronofsky-directed, Japan-set sequel which apparently won’t be a sequel at all.

Talking with HitFix, Aronofsky calls the film a “one-off” which “isn’t a sequel in any conventional sense”. Thus don’t expect any explicit links to the previous “X-Men” films or “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”.

Shooting on the film kicks off in March and is likely to employ cinematographer Matthew Libatique (“Iron Man,” “Cowboys and Aliens”).

Star Trek 2
Though it seems an afterthought at this point, J.J. Abrams is still officially not signed on to direct the upcoming “Star Trek” sequel reports Digital Spy.

Viacom COO Tom Dooley says a decision about who will direct will be made shortly, though he would like Abrams to return. Also a report the other week indicated filming on the film begins January – this is incorrect, it’s pre-production that kicks off in January as the script is being delivered around Christmas.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island
Finally, Luis Guzman is set to play the father of Vanessa Hudgens’ character in the currently shooting “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” for New Line reports Heat Vision.

Hudgens plays a Pacific Islander who gets swept into the adventure. Guzman’s father character is a boatman hired by Josh Hutcherson and Dwayne Johnson’s characters to take them to the titular island.
