A couple of key new release date announcements and changes have been made in the past day or so.
First up, TriStar Pictures has landed the distribution rights to the “Trainspotting” sequel which Danny Boyle will direct and which the original principal cast members are slated to return for – twenty years after the original. The project is currently aiming to shoot in the Spring in time for an early 2017 release.
Then there’s Relativity Studios who’ve dated five films for next year: The DJ Caruso-helmed “The Disappointments Room” on March 25th, the Kate Bosworth-led “Before I Wake” on April 8th, the Halle Berry-led “Kidnap” on May 13th, the long-shelved Zach Galifianakis-Kristen Wiig caper comedy “Masterminds” on September 30th and the horror/suspense sequel “The Strangers 2” on December 2nd.
Finally there’s Universal who are continuing their push into building a classic monsters cinematic universe. Today comes word that they’ve dated “The Wolf Man” for March 30th 2018 – a full year after “The Mummy” reboot on March 24th 2017. Aaron Guzikowski (“Prisoners”) is penning the script.
