“Boardwalk Empire” creator and “The Wolf of Wall Street” writer Terence Winter is set to pen the script for the upcoming “Scarface” remake at Universal Pictures, Bluegrass Films and Global Produce.
Winter has signed on to do a polish of Jonathan Herman’s latest draft of this third incarnation of the story which Antoine Fuqua is on board to direct.
The film is a reimagining of the core immigrant story told in the 1932 and 1983 films, this time the setting will follow a Mexican and be set in Los Angeles.
Marty Bregman, Marc Shmuger, Scott Stuber, and Dylan Clark will produce. Winter recently signed on to write the Andy Warhol biopic starring Jared Leto.
