Wolf of Wall Street Still Barking

Red Granite Pictures have acquired rights to Jordan Belfort’s memoir “The Wolf of Wall Street” and will produce with Appian Way and EMJAG Productions reports Deadline.

Leonardo DiCaprio has long wanted to star in the adaptation which follows New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort, a flashy, drug-abusing, hooker-hiring, model-marrying master of the universe sent to jail for securities fraud and money laundering in the ’90s.

Emmy-winning “Sopranos” writer-producer Terence Winter adapted the project and while Martin Scorsese and Ridley Scott were interested at points, frustration over rights led to Scorsese and DiCaprio opting to make “Shutter Island” instead.

No director is set yet and there isn’t a start date.
