Wolf of Wall Street Might Hit At Xmas

There has been a lot of talk about a potential delay for Martin Scorsese’s new film “The Wolf of Wall Street” which was originally aiming for a November 15th release.

Reports have indicated Scorsese’s current cut runs far too long (around three hours) and the studio was seriously considering a February 2014 opening to give the filmmaker more time.

Now, Showbiz 411 says that Scorsese and editor Thelma Schoonmaker are trying desperately to deliver a manageable length version in time for a Christmas Day release.

Scorsese will leave for the Marrakesh Film Festival on November 25th and he’s aiming to have the film locked down by that point – giving Paramount a month to push their marketing and promotion.

If it makes the deadline, the film is expected to be a serious awards contender – especially following the delays of several other key films to 2014, and disappointing or mixed festival reviews for some early awards favourites.
