Wire Star Joins “Creed,” “Ghostbusters”

Former “The Wire” star Michael K. Williams has scored two high-profile upcoming projects.

First up, Williams has signed on for a major role 20th Century Fox and New Regency’s upcoming film based on the popular “Assassin’s Creed” video game franchise. No details are available on his role other than it said to have the potential to appear in multiple films.

Justin Kurzel helms the film which stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard and Ariane Labed. The story follows Desmond Miles, a man captured by a secret organization with ties to the Knight Templar, who repeatedly send Miles back in time into the body of his assassin ancestors to retrieve valuable historical artifacts.

Williams, along with Andy Garcia and Matt Walsh, is also set to join the cast of Paul Feig’s currently shooting “Ghostbusters” reboot at Sony Pictures. Williams will be playing a character named Hawkins, Walsh will play a character named Rourke, and Garcia will play the Mayor of New York City.
