Warner Independent Pictures will adapt “Little Children” author Tom Perrotta’s 1997 offbeat romantic comedy novel “The Wishbones” says The Hollywood Reporter.
WIP optioned the rights to Perrotta’s script, which follows a 30-year-old failed musician living with his parents in New Jersey. On the eve of marrying a longtime girlfriend, he begins an affair with a bohemian poet from Manhattan who makes him question his life and future.
“Little Miss Sunshine” producers Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa will produce this project and are scouting for a director to update the script with Perrotta. Perrotta adapted the screenplay when “Wishbones” was picked up by New Line in 2000.
“Sunshine” helmers Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris are adapting another Perrotta novel, “The Abstinence Teacher”.
