Winona Ryder will play a working-class single mother reeling from the disappearance of her 12-year-old son in a currently untitled new drama series for Netflix.
Matt and Ross Duffer (“Wayward Pines”) created the 1980s cinema inspired project which begins when a young boy vanishes into thin air.
As friends, family and local police search for answers; they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.
This marks Ryder’s first series regular role. The Duffer brothers will write and direct all eight hourlong episodes of the series with Karl Gajdusek (“Last Resort”) serving as show runner. A 2016 premiere is being targeted.
