Following a first look at Will Smith as Genie in Disney’s live-action “Aladdin” film earlier today, the actor has taken to social media to address the main criticism surrounding his appearance in the photos released so far – his skin color.
In the animated film, the character was a pale blue throughout the film, but Smith has his natural skin color in all the photos released so far. The article accompanying the photos indicated that the final CG version of Genie in his blue form isn’t finished as yet.
Now Smith, responding to a fan on social media, has said: “I’m gonna be Blue! This is how the Genie is in Human / Disguise Form. My character will be CGI most of the movie.”
The comments come as more photos arrive from the movie including first looks at Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, Aladdin’s pet monkey Abu, and Nasim Pedrad as Jasmine’s handmaiden Dalia – a new creation that will give Jasmine someone other than her pet tiger Rajah to converse with.
