Kristen Wiig, Anna Faris and Gillian Jacobs are all in contention to play the female lead in Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest comedy “The Dictator” at Paramount Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter.
The “Borat” and “Bruno” star plays a dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed. Cohen plays both a goat herder and a deposed foreign ruler who gets lost in the U.S.
Jason Mantzoukas (“The League,” “Parks and Recreation”) is in negotiations to play Cohen’s sidekick, a fellow from the Middle East. Cohen, Scott Rudin, Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel will all produce.
“Borat” helmer Larry Charles will direct the project and the crew is currently looking for people with very strong improvisational skills. Shooting kicks off this May in locations across New York and Morocco.
