Who In The Hell Is Directing “Furious 8”?

Following on from last week’s report that “Furious 8” has been having trouble locking down a director, confusion has mostly reigned over the past day or two regarding whom might take the helm.

Scheduling conflicts rule both the third through sixth film’s director Justin Lin and the seventh film’s director James Wan out. Jaume Collet-Serra (“Non-Stop”) is also out of the running after being approached.

In a new posting on Vin Diesel’s Facebook page several hours ago, he suggests two possibilities – either himself, or the first “The Fast and the Furious” and “XXX” director Rob Cohen.

It is no secret that my good friend Justin and I have been very intensely discussing the trilogy, as we have dreamed it…

THR says the studio is not pleased with the post and that the possibility of Diesel or Cohen at the helm is none as “it is never going to happen”.

Another report at Deadline says the studio is looking at “Point Break” remake helmer Ericson Core and “Clash of the Titans” director Louis Leterrier.

Chris Morgan is still at work on the film’s script so a director isn’t expected to be set until closer to year’s end.
