Whiskey Maker Jack Daniel Gets A Biopic Series

WGN America (“Salem,” “Outsiders,” “Manhattan,” “Underground”) has begun development of “Blood and Whiskey,” a drama series based on the life of the titular man behind Jack Daniel’s Tenessee Whiskey.

Based on Peter Krass’ biography “Blood and Whiskey: The Life and Times of Jack Daniel,” the true story tale follows Jack Daniel, boy distiller, teenage moonshiner and the outlaw who built the world’s biggest whiskey empire out of the ashes of the Civil War.

Andrew Colville (“Mad Men,” “Lone Star,” “Turn”) will pen the script for the drama and executive produce alongside “Breaking Bad” alum Aaron Paul, Stan Spry, Jeff Holland, Drew Brown and Zack Beckman. A studio is not yet attached.
