Which Bubble Shows Will Return For Fall 2017?

With just a week to go before the major networks do their upfront presentations announcing their new series for the Fall, the fates of those shows on the bubble are set to be determined in coming days.

Will they be renewed or are they being cut in favour of new stock? Here’s a look at what’s likely to be saved and what’s likely to be cut on each network.

CBS
“Elementary” is likely to be renewed, “2 Broke Girls” is still undetermined due to lengthy negotiations, and “Code Black” will potentially return with a shortened season. Nineteen other series have been renewed.

Very likely to be chopped are the likes of “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders,” “The Great Indoors,” and “The Odd Couple” along with already cut newcomers “Training Day,” “Doubt” and “Pure Genius”.

ABC
“Designated Survivor,” the three Shonda Rhimes Thursday shows, “The Middle,” “Once Upon a Time,” “Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Black-ish,” and “American Housewife” are very likely to return while “Quantico,” “Speechless” and “Fresh Off the Boat” will also likely be back.

“Modern Family,” “Last Man Standing” and “The Goldbergs” are still stuck in negotiations. “The Catch,” “The Real O’Neals,” “Imaginary Mary” and “American Crime” are still undetermined but chances are slim. “Secrets & Lies,” “Time After Time,” “Notorious” and “Conviction” are all likely to be cut.

NBC
“This Is Us,” “Shades Of Blue,” “Superstore” and “The Good Place” are all confirmed returnees while “Law & Order: SVU,” “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago PD,” “The Blacklist” and “Taken” are almost certainly back. “Chicago Med” and “Chicago Justice” are undecided with most likely just one coming back.

“Trial & Error” has a good chance to return, “Timeless” and “Blindspot” are still undecided, “Great News” and “The Blacklist: Redemption” won’t likely return, and both “Powerless” and “Emerald City” have already been cancelled.

FOX
“Empire,” “Lucifer,” “Lethal Weapon,” “Star” and “The Mick” are all set to return. Chances are looking excellent for “Gotham,” very good for “The Exorcist” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and not bad for “New Girl,” “The Last Man On Earth” and “24: Legacy”.

Things could go either way for “Rosewood” and “Sleepy Hollow,” while “Son of Zorn,” “Making History” & “APB” are likely gone. “Pitch” has already been cancelled.

The CW
The CW has renewed basically all its scripted series bar two – “iZombie” which will likely return, and “The Originals” whose fate will be determined by how many new series the network picks up. Six pilots were ordered and all were liked to the point that 4-5 of them will likely be picked up. “No Tomorrow” and “Frequency” are dead.
