Whedon’s “Cabin,” Arnie’s “Stand” Set Dates

Lionsgate has finally scheduled Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard’s horror/comedy “The Cabin in the Woods” for a domestic theatrical release – April 13th 2012.

The MGM project was shot back in March 2009 and was first rumoured to be hitting later that Summer before being pushed back for a February 2010 release to allow the film to be post-converted into 3D. Then MGM hit financial woes in late 2009 and the project sat on the shelf for almost two years until it was picked up by Lionsgate.

There were rumours of a release later this year, but now at least the date is official, albeit six months later than . ‘Cabin’ will now open three weeks before “The Avengers”, both projects involving Whedon and starring Chris Hemsworth (“Thor,” “A Perfect Getaway”).

Meanwhile Kim Jee-Woon’s western “The Last Stand”, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s return to the big screen, has scheduled a January 18th 2013 release. No word on when the project will begin production.
