After “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” filmmaker Joss Whedon said quite clearly that he was done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and ever since hasn’t shown any sign of changing that position.
Today though, speaking with The Wrap, he has indicated that he might be lulled back when the paper asked him if he might come back were he given the opportunity to direct a female-driven superhero movie. He says:
“Yeah, of course, although I tend more towards the Jessica Jones-ey kind of stories than the delightful Supergirl stories that my daughter wants… [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige fought a mighty fight to get [Captain Marvel] on the schedule. So it’s a start. You could say that should be a middle, but it’s a start.”
At present, Whedon’s focus is writing an original screenplay about “a girl who goes through some unbelievable s–t.” He also re-affirms that he won’t be directing the “Captain Marvel” film.
