Considering the various deaths towards the end of the first season of HBO’s sci-fi series “Westworld,” there’s an obvious question as to just what characters will be coming back for the second. In a new interview with EW, showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have revealed some of the characters ranging from the series regulars to a few recurring and guest stars who will pop up again.
Most notably both The Man in Black (Ed Harris) and William (Jimmi Simpson) will be returning. The Man “gets a bit of damage done to him, that’s for sure” while William’s storyline will show how he was able to gain so much influence over Delos Incorporated.
Programmer Elsie Hughes (Shannon Woodward), security chief Ashley Stubbs (Luke Hemsworth), and corporate antagonist Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) are still alive but are now finding themselves experiencing Westworld as forced ‘guests’.
Also back is arrogant head writer Lee Sizemore (Simon Quarterman) who kicks off the season as hostage of Maeve (Thandie Newton). Dolores’ father Peter Abernathy (Louis Herthum) will reportedly become ‘an important asset’, and Clementine Pennyfeather (Angela Sarafyan) will also return but her operation has resulted in her being changed forever.
One key bit of casting though, and one that has yet to be revealed, is that a younger version of Dr. Ford will make appearances in the second season via flashbacks. “Westworld” season two will premiere on HBO on April 22nd.
