Rachel Weisz is in advanced talks to play the wife role in a film adaptation of Terrance Rattigan’s 1952 play “The Deep Blue Sea” says The Daily Mail.
Weisz would play Hester Collyer, the middle-aged trophy wife of a high court judge who falls for an ex-fighter pilot turned alcoholic who gives her her first orgasm. When he walks out on her, the now smitten Hester tries to kill herself.
British director Terence Davies will helm and has penned the screenplay. Vivien Leigh played the role in the previous film adaptation.
