“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” director Marc Webb says that despite Sony’s scheduling of the film for 2018, he will NOT be helming a fourth film in the series should it go ahead.
Talking to The Daily Beast, Webb said that directing the first three “Amazing Spider-Man” films is enough for him: “I’d like to be involved as a consultant, and I’ve already talked to these guys about it, but in terms of directing it, that will close out my tenure. I’ve had so much fun doing it, but after the third movie, it’ll be the time to find something else.”
Webb will also likely consult on both the Venom and Sinister Six spin-off films also in development at the studio. Like everyone else, he would love to see this Marvel universe mix with the OTHER one:
“We’re building out a more complicated Spider-Man universe with characters that people haven’t seen in other Spider-Man movies-The Sinister Six, Venom, and more. We’d all love to overlap with other studios, but it’s beyond my pay grade.”
Meanwhile a new promo image for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” showcases Spider-Man taking on The Rhino in his armored suit. The artwork is a part of an announcement teasing the arrival of yet another trailer for the movie in a few days.
