Sigourney Weaver has a busy schedule for the immediate future, serving as both the villain for Marvel and Netflix’s upcoming team-up series “The Defenders,” and returning for several sequels to James Cameron’s “Avatar”.
Weaver can’t say much about her ‘Defenders’ role, all she would admit to Variety this week was that: “I have the most delicious character. She’s really smart, and she’s very in charge.”
In regards to the “Avatar” sequels she can say some more though, claiming that the new films far surpass the original’s scope and story:
“In my opinion, the three scripts I’ve read so far are many times more amazing than the first one in terms of their scope. (James Cameron) did a lot of the heavy lifting in the first movie, establishing the family and the relationships and the world, and now he really gets to play.”
The first “Avatar” sequel is expected to hit cinemas in December 2018 and will be followed by three more films in December 2020, December 2022, and December 2023. Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Stephen Lang are also all expected to return.
