Wayans Talks A Post Crawford Lethal Weapon

Speaking at FOX’s Television Critics Association party, actor Damon Wayans has praised his new “Lethal Weapon” TV series co-star Seann William Scott for bringing a new and fresh energy to the set of the show’s third season.

Scott is replacing Clayne Crawford as the new co-lead following the latter’s dismissal. He will be portraying Wesley Cole, an ex-CIA agent, war veteran and father who moves to Los Angeles to be closer to his child. Of his co-star Wayans says:

“We’re only the first [episode] in but it’s definitely a lot lighter in tone and we’re having fun – on and off set. It’s a lot looser. Nobody is overthinking; we’re just doing and we’re having fun trying to get home.”

Cole will be partnering with Wayans’ senior detective Roger Murtaugh in the new episodes which start with Murtaugh mourning the death of his friend with Scott’s character “the light that Murtaugh needs to be pulled back out of that dark place” says Wayans.

Maggie Lawson (“Psych”) also joins the cast this year as an emergency room surgeon who met Cole in a war zone years prior to the start of the season. The new episodes kick off September 25th.
