“Inherent Vice” actress Katherine Waterston has scored one of the female lead roles opposite Eddie Redmayne in “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” the first instalment of the “Harry Potter” spin-off trilogy at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Waterston will play Tina, short for Porpentina who is a witch who works her magic in the United States. She meets magi zoologist Newt Scamander (Redmayne) when he visits New York City on his travels to find and document magical creatures.
The key roles of her younger sister Queenie and Newt’s rival Jacob have yet to be cast. David Yates is directing with “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling making her screenwriting debut on the trilogy.
The film is slated to open November 18th 2016.
