Make-up artist Philonese West and costume designer Mandy L. Fason have both confirmed on social media that production has officially wrapped on the first season of Damon Lindelof’s new sequel miniseries take on “Watchmen” for HBO.
Set to premiere in the fourth quarter, the story is set in an alternate history where ‘superheroes’ are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.
The original story centers on a murder-mystery before unfolding into a planet-altering conspiracy that ultimately asks where the fine line is drawn between heroes and villains. The new series picks up decades later as new faces and unknown characters are introduced into that universe.
Jeremy Irons, Regina King, Don Johnson, Louis Gossett Jr., Tim Blake Nelson, Adelaide Clemens, Frances Fisher, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jean Smart, Tom Mison, James Wolk and Sara Vickers co-star. Lindelof serves as creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer.
