Ken Watanabe (“Batman Begins,” “Inception”) is set to join Ryan Reynolds in the live-action Pokemon movie “Detective Pikachu” at Legendary Entertainment.
Justice Smith (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”) and Kathryn Newton (“Big Little Lies”) also star in the film in which Smith’s father is kidnapped, forcing the teen to team up with the yellow self-styled investigator Pikachu in order to find him.
Watanabe will play a character named Detective Yoshida. Nicole Perlman, Alex Hirsch, Eric Pearson and Tom McCarthy all worked on the script while Rob Letterman (“Goosebumps”) is directing with filming to begin this month in London.
