Will Smith and Denzel Washington could be teaming for a remake of the 1974 buddy comedy “Uptown Saturday Night” currently in development at Warner Bros. Pictures says Variety.
Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier starred in the original about two estranged friends who have their wallets stolen at a nightclub. The next morning, they learn that one contained a winning lottery ticket and they set out to find it. The remake will likely diverge from that storyline somewhat.
Comedy scribe Tim Dowling (“This Means War”) has been hired to write a new version of the script while David Dobkin (“Wedding Crashers”) is attached to direct. Will Smith, James Lassiter, Ken Stovitz and Jada Pinkett Smith will produce.
