Warner Bros. Pictures is closing a deal to distribute Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic “The Great Gatsby” reports Deadline.
Though not finalised, the deal could be done and sealed as early as the weekend. Currently set to star are Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchannan and Tobey Maguire as narrator Nick Carraway. Luhrmann directs from a script he co-wrote with Craig Pearce (“Moulin Rouge”).
Last week it was reported that Luhrmann might not direct the film after he gave quotes indicating that a decision about whether he would go forward with the film or not was forthcoming. Looks like he made up his mind, though no production dates have yet been set.
