With the buzz only growing for it, Warner Bros. Pictures is reportedly moving forward faster than expected on a sequel to David Ayer’s upcoming “Suicide Squad” film – even though the first doesn’t hit until August.
The Wrap reports that Ayer, who is moving on to the Will Smith and Joel Edgerton-led “Bright” as his next project, will shoot that film later this year ahead of a “planned Suicide Squad sequel in 2017”. This would indicate Ayer’s a lock to return at the helm.
Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, and Jared Leto star in ‘Squad’ which is slated to open August 5th 2016. If a ‘Squad’ follow-up were to shoot next year, it would mean a 2018 release. At the moment Warners has “The Flash” and “Aquaman” slated for March and July of that year.
