Warner Bros. Pictures has picked up the film rights to Ernie Cline’s upcoming young-adult sci-fi work “Ready Player One” reports Variety.
When Oasis’ eccentric billionaire creator dies, he offers up his vast fortune as the prize in an elaborate treasure hunt. Joining gamers from around the world, Wade quickly finds himself pitted against powerful corporate foes who will do anything to reach the treasure first.
Cline (“Fanboys”) penned the manuscript which Random House picked up the book rights for the day before Warners made the film deal. Cline gets the first go at adapting the screenplay while Donald De Line is attached to produce.
