Warner Bros. Pictures has picked up the movie rights to Gregory McDonald’s eleven-book series of mystery novels featuring the character Irwin M. Fletcher (aka. “Fletch”) reports Heat Vision.
Steve Golin, Michael Sugar and David List will produce the film adaptation which aims to be “a reimagining, not a remake” with the hope of making a smart action comedy that plays out on a bigger scale than the previous two “Fletch” movies from the 1980’s starring Chevy Chase.
The character of Irwin ‘Fletch’ Fletcher juggles writing exposes while avoiding headaches caused by his two ex-wives. No writer or director is yet attached.
Various attempts to resurrect the franchise have taken place over the years with the likes of Ben Affleck and Joshua Jackson previously linked to the role.
