Warner Bros. Pictures has announced plans for a major “Scooby-Doo” animated theatrical film which is in the works and targeting a September 21st 2018 release date.
Based on the beloved Hanna-Barbera cartoon, Tony Cervone is set to helm while Matt Lieberman is penning the script for the film which is being handled by the Warner Animation Group.
Renowned animation icon Dan Povenmire (“Phineas and Ferb”) will serve as executive producer, and “Scooby-Doo” live-action film producers Charles Roven and Richard Suckle will produce the new film as will Allison Abbate (“The Iron Giant”).
In a statement, Warners exec Greg Silverman says: “Like countless fans, I have always loved the Hanna-Barbera cast of characters. As one of their most famous brand ambassadors, Scooby-Doo will take the lead in re-introducing this pantheon of enduringly popular animated stars on a grand scale with an exciting new movie.”
