Warner Bros. Pictures and Gulfstream Pictures have begun development of the Biblical epic “King David” reports Variety.
Mike Karz and Bill Bindley will produce the project which will be based on Rabbi David Wolpe’s recently published “David: The Divided Heart”. Nick Schoenfeld will pen the script.
Wolpe says: “David is the most complex hero and anti-hero in the Bible. He’s a man who was a warrior, a prodigy, a poet, a king who united the nation and a man close to God who sins. I cannot imagine a more cinematic figure from the Bible.”
The project is one of two films about David in the works, the other being Fox and Chernin Entertainment’s film about the King of Israel’s life in the wake of his battle with Goliath.
