Warners Planning A “Minecraft” Movie

Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired the film rights to the popular video game “Minecraft” with plans for a live-action adaptation.

Swedish indie company Mojang released the game in 2011 and it is considered one of the top “open world” games out there with more than 100 million users.

Creator Markus Persson confirmed the news of the film adaptation which Roy Lee (“The Lego Movie”) and Jill Messick (“Mean Girls”) will produce. No writer or director is presently attached.
