Warner Bros. has picked up Jack Amiel and Michael Beglar’s screenplay “Everybody Loves Whales” says the trades.
The script is based on the true 1988 tale of the rescue of a trio of California gray whales found under the ice of the Arctic Circle near Barrow, Alaska.
Over a two-week period, the U.S. and Soviet governments joined with oil company execs, environmental activists, Eskimos, businessmen and military officers to help free the giant mammals.
Steve Golin and Michael Sugar will produce. Tom Rose penned the book on which the script is based.
