Warner Bros. Pictures has put a “LEGO Batman” feature film spinoff on a fast track into production.
Will Arnett voiced the character in this year’s “The LEGO Movie” and stole many of the film’s key scenes. As a result, this solo outing for the character is expected to take priority over the in-development “The LEGO Movie” sequel.
It’s also nabbing that film’s director, Chris McKay, and potentially its release date as Warners recently moved “The LEGO Movie 2” off its proposed May 26th 2017 release date. While they haven’t officially slotted “LEGO Batman” into that slot, the spin-off film is expected to score a 2017 release.
No word on what other cast members from “The LEGO Movie” will appear in the spin-off. Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Roy Lee and Dan Lin are producing while Seth Grahame-Smith will pen the screenplay.
