Warners Develops Tom Thumb Project

Warner Bros. Pictures is developing “Thumb,” a comedy-adventure film featuring 16th century mischievous shrunken folklore character Tom Thumb says the trades.

Kevin Lima (“Enchanted,” “Tarzan”) will helm the primarily live-action movie which will likely feature Thumb as a CG character.

The script by Robert Rodat (“Saving Private Ryan”) is said to be a fresh take that will explore the character’s origin story that will look at an arrogant knight who’s shrunk to 6 inches while assigned to protect a princess and then discovers what it means to be a real hero.

Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher will produce. Previous films involving the character include MGM’s 1958 live-action musical and the 1993 BBC animated effort.
