Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia, Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes has revealed the first timetable for the much-anticipated solo Batman film which will be both directed and star Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne.
Unlike most of the other films in the DC Cinematic Universe initiative, the new “Batman” film had not yet set a production or release date. Now it seems we have one, though which one? Bewkes reportedly said: “Ben announced a Batman movie [that] he’s going to direct, star, write for – I think it’s a year and a half out.”
If he’s referring to release date, then the film would hit early 2018 – a date already earmarked for “The Flash” solo movie. If he’s referring to a production start date, that would suggest the currently untitled DC film set for a November 1st 2019 release could be the “Batman” feature.
Affleck has previously suggested he doesn’t want to begin production on the film until the script, which he co-wrote alongside DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns, was in proper shape.
