Warner Bros. Pictures has not had a good Summer with its film slate this year, not helped by the gaping hole left by the shift of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” from its original July 17th 2015 release date to one nine months later on March 25th 2016.
Speaking with THR, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara spoke about the release date shuffle and confirms he’s already seen an early version of the film several times:
“It was a tough decision at the time because it was going to create a hole in 2015, but it was absolutely the right decision for the franchise, for DC and the movie. Having seen the movie multiple times, and again last night, I’m extremely confident it was the right decision to make the movie better. And it’s so important for the studio to get the foundation right on DC.”
The studio is obviously not keen to repeat the situation that took place with “Man of Steel” which, despite good box-office returns, scored just 56% on Rotten Tomatoes. The hope is ‘Dawn’ will fly higher.
