Warner Bros. Pictures has reportedly approved Robert Pattinson as the star of “The Batman,” the planned new trilogy of films which Matt Reeves will direct the first entry in later this year.
Pattinson has been considered the front runner and Reeves’ personal choice. However, because of the scope of the decision, and its potential impact on the studio, both Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult were reportedly screen tested to make sure.
Pattinson has won out and Variety reports that Warners have confirmed to them the deal has been closed with an official announcement press release to come probably within a matter of hours.
Reeves’ film reportedly tracks Bruce Wayne in the formative stages of Batman and will in no way link to the Ben Affleck-led existing DCEU films. Dylan Clark will produce.
