Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired Nicholas Sparks’ next novel “The Best of Me” says Deadline.
The story follows small-town high school sweethearts from opposite sides of the tracks who are now adults that have broken up and taken different paths.
Neither has forgotten that first love affair, and they meet when they return to their hometown for a funeral and confront the past and a possible future.
Sparks books that have become features include “A Walk to Remember,” “Message in a Bottle,” “The Last Song,” “The Notebook” and “Nights in Rodanthe”. Sparks’ “The Lucky One” hits cinemas later this year, while both “True Believer” and “Safe Haven” are in development.
Denise DiNovi and Kevin McCormick will produce the film with Sparks. The book will be published in October.
