Filmmaker James Wan’s horror thriller “Malignant” has set an August 14th release date with New Line to release the Atomic Monster film on that date. Production is currently underway in Los Angeles.
Annabelle Wallis, Maddie Hasson, George Young, Michole Briana White, Jake Abel, Jacqueline McKenzie and Ingrid Bisu star with Bisu also sharing a story by credit with Wan. Specifics of the plot are under wraps, but the project marks the Australian auteur’s return to his “Saw,” “Insidious” and “The Conjuring” horror roots.
Meanwhile Gravitas Ventures has picked up North American rights to Rohit Karn Batra’s New Delhi-set crime thriller “Line Of Descent” starring Brendan Fraser.
Shot three years ago, the story follows three brothers who feud over the direction of the family business after their mafia boss father dies. Fraser plays a boisterous arms dealer who sees the family’s dysfunction as an opportunity to grow his personal business.
Abhay Deol, Ronit Roy, Neeraj Kabi and Max Beesley co-star. The film will open theatrically and on-demand in North America on December 13th.
